I think I had my first run in with the new whip rules yesterday when I chose to deselect Rangitoto purely because I believed he needed a stronger drive at the finish than I thought he would be allowed now with the whip rule changes. He got the strong drive he needed from Ruby but still within limits (he is so damn good that man!) so that is relegated to the "one that got away" pile.
How good is 17 year old Harry Derham? He had his first 'big' win in the Greatwood on Brampour on Sunday. And he said thought he might get shouted at back at the stables because his instructions were to stay 5th or 6th from the front and he found himself nearer to the back! He may be Paul Nicholls nephew but you can be sure he wouldn't get within a furlong of one of those horses unless he was a decent rider and he obviously is. One for the future (very near future)! Moon Dice (my pick) was very unlucky at the last bend when he got squeezed out from making his run up the rail by Olofi (damn you Paddy Brennan!) and had to switch the width of the field by which time it was all too late. He still managed 4th though (thank heaven for each way four places!).
Emma Lavelle is worth following right now with 29% strike rate in the past fortnight and 36% strike rate in the past week. She has 3 lining up at Plumpton on Monday. (Did I listen to myself when I picked my 13:00 selection at Plumpton....NOPE! Chuck Testa moment there!)
Notes:
-3.39 today. One of those where a longer neck Could have put me ahead !
On a non-racing related note! Why pile so much stuff in the kitchen sink (family) people? Is this a new challenge - how high will it go until the magic washing up fairy eats it all? NOOOO!
If it is packed that closely together then the water can't actually move around the items in order to wash it. Put it at the side.......or HEY! How about washing it yourselves...(can't see that ever catching on !!)

Notes:
1/ Book Em Danno is carrying a penalty but his 3rd in a listed event LTO suggests that he should be able to overcome this if he can get his own way up front. If not then Christopher Wren will be the one to take advantage.
2/ Galloping Queen’s 2nd on here first attempt at hurdling should trump Symphony Of Love’s 2nd in a lesser class on her second attempt!

Notes:
1/ Aikideau is back from a long break after last being seen in the Triumph at the Festival earlier this year. He ought to be a class above the rest of the field but the value may lie with an each way on the danger pick, Hudibras.
2/ This is Penny Max’s first outing over jumps but Emma Lavelle is on fire at the moment and has said that he has schooled well and was always going to be a jumper. The opposition mainly look as though they will need the run and those that don’t Foxesbowe might pinch a place although ideally needs longer.

Notes:
1/ Smalljohn will have needed the run
LTO and is reunited with Tom Eaves who has a good record with him (18 runs 13 places including 6 wins). He’s well drawn for his style of running.
2/ Woolfall Sovereign would be first
choice but for the stable poor spell of form.

A waaaay better excuse than 'I've just washed the car and was drying it........ '
