Monday's Meagre Meetings and Profitable Results - 23 January

Over the weekend, the whip rule and Ascot filled the racing headlines.  Ascot for their nonsensical orange sticker regime and the whip rule for a handful of bans and lost price money ......again.

Ascot are giving refunds to all those who had passed for the premier enclosure in way of an apology (and for those who think this was just a publicity stunt - would you want that kind of publicity?) but the whip rule isn't so easily rectified!

On more than a couple of occasions, a horse won by a short head with an extra 'tap' or two - the jockey may lose their prize money but the reality is summed up by one jock who was trying his hardest to get his 5 day ban lengthened to 7 days so that he could spend a week in the winning owner's Barbados villa!

Since the racing isn't great tomorrows and I've been somewhat removed from most of it this weekend, I have cheered myself up by finally ordering four days worth of Cheltenham Festival tickets for myself and my better half....I absolutely cannot wait until they (or the Festival magazine) arrive through the door....only 51 sleeps peeps!

For a Monday today's profit of +9.73 (69.5%) is not at all bad !

1/           Sycho Fred’s trainer Mike Sowersby has had 67 runners here and no winner…at all…..ever….so although this is my form pick, you back at your own risk!  (I’m on with fingers crossed he can break his duck today though)
