It was a fantastic start to 2012 with the first selection (Barbatos) a winner and a nice 104.7% profit turned from yesterday's two winners. The blog has made profits for three days running so I'll do my best to make it four today.
It's not that often that Cheltenham has a meeting without a Ruby Walsh ridden winner and he did so well to stay aboard Sonofvic as the horse swerved to avoid the back of a blundering Saint Are. Sonofvic's jumping wasn't at all fluent and it's questionable whether he had a chance of winning at this point anyway but I did get the impression that he would have learned something if he'd been able to complete the course without hindrance.
Oscargo! Well, what can you say - he took a liking to the orange plastic top of the hurdle and tried to take it with him (his foot caught in it)....Ruby didn't manage to stay aboard that time so he got the taste of Cheltenham turf that he did so well to avoid three races earlier!
Three winners today and one of those situations where I made a profit (getting on early not SPs and putting more on my nap) but the blog at level stakes and SP didn't -3.96
