Saturday's Staying On Selections & Updates - 28 April

Inthejungle traded at 999/1 in running yesterday at Plumpton and thanks to Tom Cannon, some poor trader lost some serious ££££s.  To even stay on was a miracle feat but to stay on and win was amazing.  You can see the best recovery of the year here:

It'll be great to see some fields with more than 6 runners today...I know it's not that long ago but it seems an age since we've seen more than a handful in a day.  At least this has meant that Kirsty Milczarek has now had a winner since her return to racing.....a walkover on Reward at Sandown yesterday.  I'm sure it won't be too long before she has a 'proper' win.

I'll be sticking with my "selection must have won at Cheltenham or placed at Punchestown" inclusion criteria for selecting at Punchestown (where there is a runner with either).  However, my slightly less scientific method of "mention Stoutey's runners on here and they win" technique came to an end today when his two runners tootled home closer to last than first.

A small lost of - 1.73 today at Betfair SPs - probably not if you got on early though!

The above method (?) has been used to pick my nightly nap which is Ut Di Sivola in the 16:30 Punchestown.  He was struck into at Cheltenham so his poor show there is readily forgiven and a C&D winner with form on heavy going and Ruby having chosen to steer this one from the Mullins pair is surely worth an each way?
The other Mullins runner, Darroun is/was a very very close contender even though Mr M says that he won't like the ground (he has placed a close second to Shadow Catcher on heavy before), I shall probably back both (can you have two naps?)!
The afore mentioned Shadow Catcher was the third runner that took my eye.  Also a C& D winner with form on heavy ground, he can also be excused his last run at Cheltenham when he hadn't a clear run but herein lies  the problem - no form in big fields!

The going tomorrow
reads like Nigel Planar's
script for Neil in the
Young Ones:
Heavy.... heavy......heavy

Update on the cross!  it is still exactly as it was a week ago...wrapped up in pretty red and white tape (I don't think these are early Jubilee decorations!) and surrounded by a climbing frame and bright orange plastic barriers (I must take a pic tomorrow).
I put it to my better half that there will be a delay while the relevant planning and building department heads and councillors set up a "Medieval Cross Renovation Specialist Building Ltd"  company in their wives names and successfully bid for the contract but he said I was too cynical and that the delay will come from the insurance company for the car driver.  Now there's a claim form I would love to see!
