Sunday's Stormy Selections & Updates - 29 April

A fairly eventful and somewhat surreal day yesterday!
  1. Kirsty Milkshake had her first 'proper' win since returning to race riding yesterday on Twelve Strings at Haydock (Cumani 4/1).
  2. Une Artiste refused to race at Punchestown in the Mares' Hurdle (I think she was worried that her shoes didn't match her jockey ..or her bum looked big or something...!)
  3. War Poet won big time for the alternative best kept secret blog and........
  4. I had to stop the car to let a male peacock cross the road on Saturday evening.  It was last seen heading into town.  True!

Female Jockey
Watching Hayley Turner winning on Suraj at Doncaster yesterday evening really brought home to me what a first rate jockey she is!  She got to work on him to cajole him to the front where she kept him up to it until he bowled along til the line.  She did just the same on Friday riding Spirit Of The Law (14/1 also Doncaster) to get past Jamie Spencer who was on Beyond Conceit and win by a neck.  Anyone who still thinks a woman jockey isn't as strong as a man (I had to put my Dad right at Newmarket a couple of years ago!) needs to watch Hayley in action.  You get your money's worth when you back any ride of hers and she earns every penny of her fee.

Back to Sunday then!  The Tote Jackpot has been carried over to Ludlow (around £42K) so that might be worth a play?  I only ever bother playing when it's a big prize fund/pool and I was the closest ever to winning it the last time I played (there was a huge pool at Wolves a fortnight ago) and managed to find five winners...... and a third.

I won't profess to be any sort of expert on French racing but with such a dearth of quality this side of the Channel, I thought I'd have a look!
