A quick dash into cyberspace here to let anyone who's interested know that I'm alive and kicking (but a tad busy lately hence the lack of web wittering)!
A trio of improving claimers to watch out for recently (to add to Nicole Nordblad who surely everyone knows about now?) are:
Ryan While - riding mainly for Bill Turner but who is booked to ride Lucky Dan at Haydock tomorrow evening for Paul Green
Matthew Cosham - mainly riding for David Evans and who has knocked out 3 winners from 5 rides in the past week. he has one ride on Thursday aboard Teak at Haydock in the apprentice race at 18:50
Shirley Teasdale - caught my attention at the end of last season. She's attached to David Nicholls but picking up quite a few outside rides and was riding in Dubai over winter. No rides on Thursday but keep an eye out!
One of the more experienced jockeys who I have noticed seems to be in winning form lately is Darryll (Dazzler) Holland. He has ridden a good proportion of winners in the past fortnight including a 28/1 at Yarmouth on Wednesday so either he is managing a whole Weetabix in the mornings, turning 40 (it's his birthday today) has triggered hyperdrive or perhaps his agent @willowracing has been making some shrewd and smartly judged bookings for him.
Ride of the week (so far) has to be Jason Hart in the last at Hamilton on Wednesday evening. He was riding the favourite King Of Paradise and the saddle slipped so far that it looked un-rideable at one point. He brought the horse out to the middle of the track safely away from the others then managed to manipulate the saddle back down the horses neck (the rising ground and gravity may have had a part to play in this) then got on with the job at hand and won!
I've been tweaking the www.speedyequines.com picking system and it's been finding a good few winners lately (now mentioning this is possibly the kiss of death/jinx/tempting fate etc). It is quite possibly the best kept secret on the web given the number of visitors!!
The results seem to work like this 'good day', 'not so good day', 'good day', 'not so good day' and so on.....Wednesday was a good day so be warned if you have a peek at tomorrows!
