Saturday’s Selections & Results (30th July)

Not so clever today.  I included 5 x maidens, 1x apprentice race and 1 x nursery in today's selections - if I hadn't, then the results would be in profit.  Another lesson learned and tweak to the system which obviously doesn't work to the same effect with these races (and is it any wonder really?).

Another day of profits yesterday with two 1^st , two 2^nd , two 3^rd and one UP (and the usual hard luck stories:  chinned on the line, hampered etc with some).  Can’t be as frustrating as the day that Memory’s connections had though!  Little madam has been going through the stalls perfectly well since her last disgrace – even on a race day at Salisbury – but obviously knows when it’s the ‘real deal’.  My daughter suggested that she perhaps was worried that (a) her bum looked big in it or (b) the farrier should have fitted her with designer shoes with red on the undersides. 

I’m off to Doncaster tomorrow so I’m hoping for some good results!  It’ll be good to see Space War again in the 15:55.  I backed and watched him win his maiden at Newmarket last June but since then he’s never quite lived up to expectations and earlier this year left John Gosden and is now with Mick Easterby.  He’s a good price (14/1 at the time of writing) so I may allow myself a very small sentimental e/w at the course (perish the thought!).
