Friday's Abbreviated Musings (No Selections) - 18 November

It was good to see Jason Maguire with a win on his first day back on the racecourse after a lengthy spell injured.  He won't be riding Weird Al in the Betfair Chase because he is needed at Ascot for Overturn.


Other news on Thursday is that Harry Derham is turning professional - and I should think so too!  His natural timing and talent should mean that in a couple of years, his name will be high on any owners list.


I've not looked at today's races as I've been poorly ill - some generous friends have shared their lurgy germs with me so I've turned into a man and am spending the day feeling sorry for myself and dosing up on the entire contents of the medicine cupboard.  


Hopefully, I'll be well enough later  to look at the fantastic racing at Haydock and Ascot tomorrow (Sat), the mile races at Lingfield and there's bound to be some value to be found at the lesser meetings.


This cheered me up from my poorliness slightly with a line won on the Kempton placepot today:
