Monday's Miracle Selections - 23 April

The miracle doesn't refer to what I need for them to win (honest!) but I'm referring to the half decent three evening cards that we have in UK & Ireland for a Monday evening!

This post will be added to "on the fly" as  I work my way through the races and find anything I think is backable and worth a mention.

1/      Speed Steed is carrying 12lb more than for his win LTO and on this galloping course, every ounce will tell.  The handicapper hasn’t been too kind to Grand Lahou (his usual game is chasing) and could do with a couple of pounds lower I reckon.  Mickmacmagoole is interesting but Mr JE Tudor who has ridden and won with him in the past has been replaced by 7lb claimer Barry Brown who hasn’t lit the racing world alight (yet anyway!) Dormouse seems to be able to win on any going but has shown poor form recently.  Saltiagoo seems to be best suited by a sharp track although Brendan Powell Jnr riding for his Dad is always of interest!  Veteran Thenford Flyer hasn’t won since 2006…so I’ll risk Speed Steed as the best of a bad bunch with an each way saver bet on Saltiagoo!
2/      Space Mission seemed to be affected by the ‘bounce’ LTO but has had a good 3 months rest and should be able to make his presence felt here.  Gavin Sheehan takes off a handy 7lbs which could and should give him the edge over The Disengager
3/      Am I Blue - I can’t back this jockey – he would have needed binoculars to see the winner in his last few races!  the conditions have probably turned too testing for Mavalenta now.  Dream Performance will struggle to stay, although Schism hasn’t raced on anything worse than soft, this won’t phase her and I don’t think this was the reason for her poor show LTO (I think she’s just a piglet! Of course she may have just been sulking at McCoy’s more assertive handling).  Glen Countess, Rio Alto and Derwyn Pride have not shown a liking for this ground and Bellaboosh is high in the weights.  I’m going to chance each way with Miss Saffron back over hurdles on going and with distance to suit!

Achalas UP
Colinca’s Lad 2nd
Notes:
1/        Middle to high draw is king for this race and from these only Colinca’s Lad and Achalas are proven with a question mark over Kleitomachos who is still a maiden and I doubt this sharp track will suit. That leaves two then!  The Buick booking is interesting but Achalas may just need this run after 137 days  and Colinca’s Lad could be a victim of the bounce butthey both have more positives than negatives and certainly more than the rest of the field so I’m going to dutch these two.

Washing Machine emergency means the rest of this evening's racing is abandoned in this house  !!!

After several gallons of dark blue water across the kitchen floor lapping around my ankles, I return to find that it was probably not a bad thing given my results to that point ....but at least Michael Stoute had a winner!
