A late start but I have a load of washing in, the cat has been fed her mashed up expensive pouch food, a jug of Machu Picchu coffee is brewing, the fridge is empty of all cooked food (so I know my teenage son got home ok last night!), the house is relatively tidy and the paperwork is done so I finally have a couple of hours to peruse today's racing.
It seems we have every adjective that you can use in conjunction with showers working for us today (scattered, light, possible etc).
One thing that occurred (or re-occurred) to me this weekend is that when Aiden O'Brien (or his son now that he has joined in) makes negative sounds about one of his fancied horses then it is likely to win. Camelot was fine on the ground, distance and all else on Saturday as we now all know. On the other hand, should you not hear a whisper or murmur (Maybe) then look at his other runners! Homecoming Queen won the 1000 Guineas impressively yesterday. Sadly Gray Pearl attempted to duck under the starting gate and was very sadly euthanised after damaging her spinal cord. I know that Hills thought a lot of her so theirs will be sad stable today.
If you see the name Mirco Demuro riding at Bath today and discount his rides because you've never heard of him then reconsider! He has been Italy champion jockey five times (his baby brother Cristian won the title this year), and has one plenty of big International races and has made the decision to ride as mainly in the UK in 2012 (returning to Italy for the big Sunday races) so you'll be seeing the name plenty more. He's riding at Bath today.
Thanks to the two last winners, the blog made a small profit of 0.37 pts today (dizzy heights!)
