Yesterday at Windsor one of the horses going down to the start was zig zagging from one side of the track to another! My daughter has now learned that racehorses don't need to warm their hooves up like F1 cars need to warm their tyres but that jockey was merely checking where the best ground was!
Ex NH jockey Graham Lee opened his account on the flat last Thursday and has scored twice more since then , so now he has three flat winners to his name. His first few days as a flat jockey seemed a tad underwhelming but the ride he gave Staff Sergeant on Friday was pretty impressive enough - he clocked the fractions nicely and there could be some value to be had backing some of his rides in the near future while the jury's still out on his new career.
James Sullivan had a neat treble at Beverley yesterday. He's riding at Catterick on Tuesday so his rides may be worth a second look - his confidence should be soaring.
Nightly nap is running at Southwell in the 14:45 Lakeman. He had his seasonal cobweb blower at Southwell over an too sharp mile a fortnight ago and should strip fitter for that. The mile and a half ought to suit better (2nd and 3rd at this distance last August) and he he has form here at Southwell - I would never put my £££s on a horse that hasn't placed at this track before.
* Some shorties but multiple fodder!
A severe case of seconditis all round with -4.09 loss today
1/ I would have liked it better if Eijaaz had already been out this season but he has come back from 3 months away to win previously and the booking of SDS would suggest that the stable are confident.
