Thursday's Suffrage Selections & Updates - 03 May

Shock Horror Newsflash!    Irish jockey takes a drink!  Richard Hughes new autobiography "A Weight Off My Mind" will reveal the occasion where he indulged a little too much champagne at Ascot and passed out (he'd also had quite a few diuretics which didn't help matters) but has now been sober 7+ years.  Little teasers like this do their job very nicely thank you -  I am such a marketers dream that I swear that Tesco base their entire store layout on my shopping behaviour (I'll go in for milk and come out with a Les Miserables CD, set of saucepans and hamster food ........when I don't have a hamster!)  Anyway it won't be difficult to persuade me to part with some winnings and buy this book when it's released on the 18 May.

Hughsie was back in the winners enclosure on Wednesday at Kempton - not once but twice after scoring with Lyric Ace and then Gusto.  He'll ride Trumpet Major on Saturday in the 2000 Guineas who is on my shortlist together with Caspar Netscher (as long as the ground stays the same as the spot I have for him) and Camelot.  Update:  Newmarket had 24mm rain overnight which is most definitely going to mean soft if not heavy ground for the Guineas....wonder how many will end up lining up?

It's also the Kentucky Derby on Saturday (9pm our time) which is NOT a race for chickens as I explained to my daughter last year!
I got caught up listening to the stall (post) draw Wednesday evening and Daddy Long Legs (O'Brien horse) has been drawn 1 - not great at all!

Musselburgh miles..... 20 of the last 27 winners have been drawn low

A profitable day for the blog selections yesterday - hoping for some more:
