The Glorious Blog - Day 1

There are a surprising number of trainers coming into this festival with some very healthy recent form.  Roger Charlton and David Simcock have a 35% strike rate for the past fortnight with Mark Johnston, Saeed bin Suroor, William Haggas, Ellison, Hannon, Gosden and more all churning out 20% +.

From this list, its the Mark Johnston runners that should be given the most respect as he is to Goodwood what Dermot Weld is to Galway!  He likes to target this meeting and always does exceptionally well so give his runners a second look.

This would suggest that we should have some exciting close finished in store this week with undoubtedly the odd big upset thrown in for interest!

I'm going to stick with the win, next best and each way that showed some nice profits for Royal Ascot earlier in the year and I apologise in advance that lack of time this week means not much window dressing I'm afraid but you can be assured that plenty of time will be spent on pondering, assessing and trying to get one over on the bookies!
