Frantic Friday's Selections & Updates (Profits) - 30 March

The 'yet-to-be-named' alternative selection system (ASS?) produced a very tasty 147.50% profit for the Newcastle card yesterday so it might be tempting fate to hope for more of the same today therefore I'll whisper it....and put up the selections for Newcastle on the other page!  The Lingfield selections from this offshoot have also been performing well .....as has Wolves but only at daytime meetings and as for Dundalk on a Friday night.......I won't even go there! The selections will be on the next page (see tab above) in good time tomorrow.

Not much time for chit chat today so I'll just post my selections and save the chin-wagging for the weekend!

Nightly Nap is Playing The Field in the 16:10 at Newcastle tomorrow and is currently a very decent 11/4 - I'd have it closer to evens myself! UP

The nap was disappointing but even so, another profitable day with 9 selections and 4 winners and profits of +2.04 (22.67%)

Monday Pie Eating Day Selections & Updates - 26 March

Yesterday was Ireland's first day with the new revised (upwards) weights which will now apply to conditions races.  This means that the jockeys can weigh between 2lbs and 5lbs more than used to be the case in these particular races with a minimum of 9 stone - a step taken after a report from the chief medical officer voiced concern for the health of the jockeys.

I'm sure that everyone can think of at least one tall and talented young jockey who will benefit from this new review.  Whoops!  Joseph O'Brien weighed in a pound over for the second (maiden) race on the card yesterday.

Richard Hughes looks tall amongst flat jockeys at 5ft 9" but at 5ft 11" Joseph is even taller and is always going to have a battle.

Apart from the one winner (and 2nd - forecast!) today was a typical Monday with a loss of -4.25.  Countess Comet was disappointing and can only be put down to Towcester allergy!

Notes:
1/            It is interesting that Martin Dwyer is doing 8st 5lbs for this race on Nic Nok – is this a tip in itself?

My daughter told me that early on Saturday morning a group of lovely Irish people came into the garage where she work .  They were really funny and she had a good laugh (craic?) with them.  It was only after they left the shop that her friend/colleague, who had been jumping about and having kittens in the background, told her that they were the entire cast of Mrs Brown's Boys - who are currently touring.

My Nightly Nap is a horse that has been here before:

The flat seasons kick off at the Curragh on Sunday and with the Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster on the 31 March, a week today but for today there is some class 1 racing at Newbury and a group race in the Winter Derby at Lingfield (currently leaning towards Junoob). I'll put up my selections throughout the course of the morning as I find them..........

NB:  Mark Johnston has a 42% strike rate in the past fortnight!
