Only the one winner and -5.28 today

There are two things about McCain runners that I always kick myself when I don't remember- the first is any runners at Bangor should be backed blindly and in a multiple!  The four timer that he had there yesterday passed me by.  And the second thing is that when he puts first time blinkers on, take notice that these are likely to have a very beneficial effect!  Realmont wears them today (15:40 Hexham)
Not today though - he only managed 4th

A quick post to leave my nightly nap - short price I'm afraid but then it should win by a few miles hundred yards furlongs yards!  i'm not in the least worried about the firmer ground, he's won on the flat on good to firm and had a 3rd in January on good ground - after which he had his wind worked on so it wasn't the ground that was against him that day.  His sire also liked a sound surface.

You can do worse than back anything that either Luke Morris or Joe Fanning are riding over the next few days...they're neck and neck for the AW title!

Thursday's Nap and Handful Of Selections & Updates- 08 March

An excellent day for the blog selections yesterday with four winners, two seconds and two nowheres and some nice profits to boost the coffers.  I need this run of good form to continue into next week ........

Hero Wednesday and Zero Thursday.  Ah well....at least there were just the four selections today and -5

An each way priced nightly nap (bit of a contradiction but hey!)

(Not so) Hidden Crack - Clonmel 16:45

Silly season with the Cheltenham rumour mill at full speed now!  I'm half expecting to wake up to the news that Sprinter Sacre's leg fell off overnight and the price at one point  went out to 999/1on Betfair.  A passing donkey found the missing appendage in a field and took  it back to the vet who just happened to be in the yard looking for it and so was able to immediately fix it back on with a blob of Araldite.  A statement released by the stable cat says everything in still on course for next week and there is absolutely nothing to worry about except that they are running out of tuna.

Saturday's Soggy Selections & Updates - 21 January

Haydock inspected at 07:30am and it a go!  The wind and rain is not stopping a hardy Northern racetrack from putting on a great day's racing with the Peter Marsh chase.  The weather today will be throwing (literally in Haydocks case I think) a few big priced winners over the line first!

Even the lack of a single winner will not stop me from looking again at Meydan though.  Shafya spoilt the "Suroor/Cumani 11f tapeta" party yesterday by winning with his runner - nerve of the man spoiling my stats like that!  No matter, there's another 11f tapeta Meydan race tomorrow (14:50) so normal balance can be restored.  The Suroor runner is Tahaamah with SDS up (no Frankie at Meydan tomorrow).  Tahaamah was a bit of a monkey at the stalls on his last attempt at racing and was withdrawn so hopefully he can behave better this time out.  I may hide a few selections at the foot of this blog later.....

Just looking through today's racing and I cannot believe that Mon Mome has never won since the Grand National!  I'm amazed.

Notes:
3/            I’ve gone for a couple of the old boys here each way.  Mount Oscar hasn’t been seen on a racecourse since last Feb but on the 5 occasions he has returned from a long break , he’s won once, came 3rd three times and failed once so an each way should bear fruit – more of a worry is the current stable form but they’re coming a long way just for this one race here today.  The Sawyer will love these conditions.

Notes:
1/            Negatives for Triolo D’Alene is winning form is in tiny fields, Oldrik’s penalty
3/            Thought long and hard about FR (I do love Al Ferof) but despite some clever hack from RP worrying about going right handed after the dodgy jumping at Kempton LTO (despite winning here easily over hurdles!), there is no way that I think for one moment that he won’t have been schooled to within an inch of his life between then and now.
4/            Appears that Nick Williams has found a key!  Down in grade, course winners, distance winner, going winner so should be in the shake up

I just threw some stale cake out for the blackbird and robin that always wait outside the back door at day break.  I forgot to crumble it and nearly took the robin's head off.....whoops!
