Wednesday’s Selections & Results (10 August)

Kieren Fallon has won 55% of his 3yo races at Salisbury  (6 of 11) which is a pretty good record.....but then again he’s won 57% of his 2yo races and 40% of his 4yo+ (averaging 52% - 12 wins from 23 rides).   So a good enough reason to have a close look when he rides there but more so now he’s on a mission to close in on the jockey’s title.  Hopefully, he can get Matavia Bay to the line first and win me some bounty (for very bad pun explanation - see pic below!)

I have quite a shopping list of 10 selections (down to 9 with one NR) today – but they tick all the boxes and I’ve been quite brutal  (as ever!) about shedding any that don’t.

15:25     Scarborough Lily (3.1) 2nd
15:55     Tinkerbell Will (7.6) 1st

Matavia Bay (Tahiti) - Captain Cook sailed there first on the Bounty!

Just one (decent priced) winner but could have done with another to push the day into profit!

Beverley 16:20 10f Class 4 Handicap 3yo+

My initial thought looking quickly at this card was License To Till should have this – a horse than I backed LTO.  However, the Johnston stable just isn’t firing on all cylinders right now and this fact coupled with the fact the LTT is drawn bang smack in the middle (5) is enough to dissuade me from putting my £££ on today.  I have looked for a horse drawn high as 11 of the past 17 winners have been and who is guaranteed (not a word that should be used in a race review I know) to handle the soft going.  This leaves me with Amazing Blue Sky, Count Bertoni and Quanah Parker.
Count Bertoni didn’t have the clearest of runs LTO but wasn’t digraced with 4th place.  He is however still high enough in the weights.  Amazing Blue Sky is a C&D winner with a great chance with James Sullivan aboard who gets on well with him.  He is beginning to look a little exposed though…which leaves Quanah Parker who has just joined Neil King (who does well at this track) last week – wonder if he’s a hurdler in the making?  There’s no Euston Square (NR) to spoil the party this time and I’ll take my chance with Quanah Parker handling the worsening ground the best from a decent draw.
Quanah Parker 4/1

3rd Short of room a little way out but no excuses – needs to come down in weights!
