Friday's Selections & Results - 16 September

Talk Of The North in the first at Lingfield (14:25) for Hugo Palmer looks very solid - even for a maiden race!  5/4 is short enough but still good value in my opinion ...but since it's a maiden, i shall resist putting the house on it.
2nd...just as well the house wasn't on it!!

There are some names I'll be taking notice of at Ayr when they pop up over the next two days!
In no particular order:
Our Shirl
  • Richard Fahey of course and will pop up in just about every race!
  • Jim Goldie see above
  • Tim Easterby targets big field handicaps at northern tracks/festivals
  • Keith Dalgleish shrewd trainer with exceptional strike rate at Ayr who used to go to school with MrPersians!
  • Julie Burke 3rd best female jockey after Hayley & Cathy
  • Shirley Teasdale Apprentice attached to the Nichols stable - claims 7lb and has ridden 2 of her 3 wins today and yesterday so confidence ought to be bubbling.  (I'm guessing that at her tender age she was named for a relative!)
These are the names I'll be paying close attention to and if I find them in a combo then all the better.......

Today's system selections - it's a complete coincidence that both Ayr picks are Easterby horses but this may not be a bad thing....see note above!

Only one winner today and had to wait until the last for that (I have to admit that my usual losing combination of Fallon + favourite had me worried !!   Loss of -3 today

Time for a good cringe everyone !
"That's why you never see people like Brian Blessed riding horses!"

This story in the RP made me a tad cross!  The Injured Jockeys Fund relies heavily on sales of their diaries and calendars over the Christmas period.  They have to wait to print these until the 2012 racing fixtures are confirmed and this year it may not be until November.  This means extra staff and night shifts to cope - which in turn means higher costs and less profits!

Here's a quiz!  Put these words together to make a sentence:  organise, BHA, piss up, brewery, couldn't !

Meanwhile, you can still buy your Christmas cards from the IJF at:  Buy Injured Jockeys Fund Christmas Cards Here
