Stef Higgins has just announced today that she is relinquishing her trainer's license for the time being as there are "matters that need her attention". Hopefully she can soon sort whatever it is quickly and get back into training.
Today’s many system selections are:
A quick addition to the blog to mention that 8 of the last 13 winners at Kempton over 2m have been drawn low - big stat!! This means stalls 1- 6 for the 19:40 tonight??
Day one of the Ayr Festival and I think we can count on four things over the next few days:
- The going will be some variation on soft
- Hanagan is there all 3 days and has 17 rides so we can expect him to win on at least 5 of them (especially the 2yo age group in which he has a 28% strike rate) and extend his title lead
- Jim Goldie will have a winner or two!!
- Point 3 will probably be the understatement of the week
It will be interesting to see how Richard Fahey with his excellent course record yet poor recent stable form does over these next 3 days! I hope he has a good Ayr meeting as we have one or two of his runners amongst the selections below!
Over 7f at Ayr, 15 of the past 29 races have been won by a high drawn runner (51.72%) contrary to the usual belief that low is best at this distance.
I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed some of the owners names looking though the cards! One such wondrous name that caught my eye is “The Dregs Of Humanity” who own one of today’s selections, Monte Mayor One.

Monte Mayor is a gorgeous place in Spain between Marbella and Gibraltar with a beautiful golf and country club. Not a bad place to name a horse after!
