Yesterday was fun and games (not) with the 15:25 race at Wetherby being declared void. The upshot is that ten of our finest jumps jockeys will be out of action from October 26 to November 4. They all received 10 days ban for failing to pull up in the 15:25 race at Wetherby yesterday when a yellow flag was deployed.

Apparently it was very hard to see as the man with the yellow flag had already used up his quota of ‘8 waves’ and so the flag wasn’t moving much and not as visible as usual !
On the plus side, 'only' 3 jockeys (Buick, Cosrave and Gemelova) picked up whip bans on Wednesday.........(note the concerted effort here to keep my mouth shut/fingers still)
It was sticking rotten luck for Cathy Gannon who fractured her femur when her ride in a maiden at Nottingham jinked/shied on the way to the start and she came off. She's due to be operated on either Wednesday night or Thursday daytime and I won't be alone in hoping all goes well. Both the top female. As Andrew Tinkler said in the past few days "ours is the only job where we are followed round by ambulances and then penalised when we try too hard".

14:30 Asaid (3.75) - would have won LTO if not been hampered and has plum draw 2nd
15:00 Ninfea (15) - Rather unreliable but on a winnable mark as long as the key is this extra distance 2nd
15:30 Spanish Fork (42) - very much a long shot but stable coming back into form and does have a sniff in first time visor. I have to oppose the fav Firestarter as I'm not convinced about the extra furlong UP (but I was right about Firestarter!!)
16:00 Tymismoni (19.5) - this is a best of a bad bunch for me! Had his best run here (2nd), a good draw and stable in form and that's it! UP
