A bare basics blog today as I am having a rest day in preparation for my onslaught on the bookies and the Hennessy tomorrow (Sat).
There are a handful of runners today that I picked out last night, looked at again this morning and will have small 'investment' (a Lucky 15). They are:
Newbury 13:00
Ranjaan 2nd - first spin over hurdles today - costing £200K earlier in the year. Ruby rides for Paul and it would be very disappointing if he couldn't have an impact here.
Newbury 15:50
A Newbury maiden hurdle with quite a few of the field leaving me wondering what they are going here!. Nicky Henderson runs Mono Man 2nd and this is another hurdling debutante that I've picked (what have I put in my coffee this morning?). Henderson has won this race three times in the last 10 years - twice with runners having their first race over the little sticks. Mono Man has won both his NH races and with one a Cl3, has the best flat form on offer. It's A Gimme 1st ought to be right behind him!
Wolverhampton 16:30
A maiden but if you're going to back a maiden then Uncut Stone UP (4th) has some class and should improve for this extra distance. He obviously has AW written all over him as his sire, Awesome Again won on some high grade races on the dirt in the US ....including the Breeders Cup in '98!!
Dundalk 21:15
Hopefully this will be worth waiting for! Elusive Ridge UP is a big 14/1 at the time of writing and this pick has been made purely from stats alone so you've been warned! Over 12f at Dundalk, there is a huge bias for low and middle drawn runners and a huge bias for low drawn runners winning from the front. Elusive Ridge (despite a heavy burden) is the only one to combine both and has some decent speed figures to boot... so I'm hoping he'll burn the field off! The winner was drawn stall 1 !
