I love a good rumour - including the one flying around yesterday that Ruby Walsh was going to parachute in to take the ride at Folkestone on Black Mac instead of 3lb claimer Eddie Power. Someone probably overheard a punter or bookie chatting about sending out for a curry.....!
Time For Rupert looks set to win his next outing tomorrow - the more realistic class 2 graduation chase at Newbury (14:35). It seems so unfair for Will Kennedy who piloted him through numerous graded attempts and surely helped place him as well as anyone could have done against such classy foes as Long Run, Kauto Star, Big Bucks, Zaynar. He'll no doubt win (he's won all four previous outing in a class 2 race) and connections can all give Denis a slap on the back and forget Will's contribution....no fair!
Today (Wed 14th) the BHA will announce their decision as to the verdicts and punishments (if any) to be handed to the five jockeys (1 now a trainer), 2 owners and 6 "others" who were all investigated regarding the laying of certain horses on the exchanges. This announcement was postponed from the 03 November when the investigation was concluded (with the original charges being brought on 20 May) in order to release the information at a less sensitive time for racing - late Oct/early Nov being the height of the whip rule changes. I'll hazard a guess that Kirsty will be exonerated, as will Jimmy (nearly) and the others will have the book thrown at them!

5/ I would have selected The Boss as first choice but for the poor recent stable form but first time blinkers are very attractive!
