There were certainly some odd results at Southwell yesterday and the bookies must have loved it....but at least my nap M J Woodward won the 15:30.
Apparently, Huntingdon will be expecting "scattered flurries" tomorrow....can't wait!
So Long Run may be running (parading) at Cheltenham without the blue earplugs he has always sported. The theory goes that he may have lost his last two race because he was too laid back when not hearing the roar from the crowd for Kauto. I prefer to think that it's because he cannot hear SWC shouting "giddy up" instead of using his 'persuader' as many times as he used to!
It's no surprise that Paul Nichols is sending blog pic-nap Sonofvic back over hurdles after his abysmal second attempt at the big sticks. He has said that he needs more time and at aged just seven, he has plenty of it. I will be very interested to see his progress when (no doubt) next year he is tried over fences again.
My favourite horse, Peddler's Cross may have an explanation (some may say excuse) for having been soundly beaten into second place behind Sprinter Sacre at Kempton. The news that muscle problems may have contributed to his poor showing mean that the road to the Arkle may just have taken a tiny detour rather than a complete road block.
Grands Crus is being spoken of for the Gold Cup and is currently a 20/1 price. Well, he's got the right initials .........!
Notes:
Kieren Fallon's agent has said that he won't be chasing the Champion jockey title next year (despite the RP report today) but instead will be concentrating more on quality over quantity and being more selective in choosing group races. Clever! Less riding and more dollar for both jockey and agent. And if successful with the quality rides then surely the quantity will follow.
In a very clever and cunning ploy, my family didn't give me a Racing Post wall calendar for Christmas despite my wrecking-ball-like subtlety in hinting.......this really isn't because YS (youngest son) forgot to order it in time but because in actual fact, he wanted to save me ££££. They are now available for half price on the RP website (free delivery too!). You may wonder how it's saving me money if I am now buying one for myself instead of receiving it as a gift........it you are wondering this then you have never been a parent! "Mum, can you lend me some money" - substitute lend for give and you have the gist.

Crafty Roberto was already beaten when falling 2 from home. -2.88 today since the three winners were so short.

1/ My selection would have been Cheney
Manor if this had been a 2 mile race!
2/ Joseph Lister should be a class above the rest whereas Iconic Rose will have improved for her first spin over hurdles LTO when she looked to be crying out for the step up in trip. Both trainer and jockey have good course records and worth a chance at a huge 66/1 each way price
