I laughed out loud (yes folks I genuinely LOL'd) when I was looking through the Newbury card earlier - just as I did last time I saw the name Usain Colt. What a brilliant name!
He's never run on anything softer than good but breeding suggest that this won't be any problem at all and he should go well from a decent draw - the 8/1 of offer at the time of writing for this Hannon runner should have you sprinting to put an each way bet on (collective groan please!). I would say his main competition will come from first and foremost Aljamaaheer who ought to be winning this - he has a Derby entry and could be anything (but most likely very very good) and Self Centred who could need the run more than the other seasonal débutantes. I'd like to think these three will make up the place....we'll see!
http://www.swhp.co.uk The Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies is a fantastic charity in Wales where they take in abused and injured horses and ponies. They are always on the look out for good homes for their charges once they've been nursed back to health and for donations to carry on their good work.

Understatement of the week: There are one or two maiden races at Newbury today!
Second best name of the day has to be Aussie Man And Van (15:40 Fontwell)
Good to see both AP and Ruby back in the saddle today up at Ayr
