Thursday's "The Days Are Getting Longer Now" Selections & Updates - 22 December

I am very sore today from kicking myself for ignoring Lockentanks yesterday!  He's one of my cliff horses and I discounted him only because Michael Appleby had sent out 16 runners in the past fortnight without a winner....no 2nds, no 3rds, not even a sniff of a winner and then (because I didn't back it!) boom!
Xmas is almost upon us and the Royal Mail have delivered nothing yet which is remotely RP calendar-shaped ....hmmmm???

There's nothing funner than to watch my son last night insulting my daughter in a Shakespearean manner.  After some wonderfully eloguent, lengthy and well remembered insults, she just turned back to him and said "you dick!".  Succinct and very very funny :)

Haydock is beckoning on the 30th since I haven't been for so long...the Northern Racing Club are sponsoring the first race that day - the conditional jockeys hurdle.  I hope I'll be able to predict the winner as I did for their sponsored Bangor race last Sunday (Ulis De Vassy). I have to admit thought that although Haydock is my next to favourite course to visit, my strike rate there is absolutely dire!

I'm concentrating mostly on Hereford today where I have a better than average strike rate with picking winners (over 40%) :

Well me and my big mouth (keyboard?).... if my Hereford strike rate is to remain at 40% then all my selections should be winning at their next meeting!!

Notes:
2/            Chestnut Ben may need this confidence boost after falling LTO (he wasn’t going to win off less weight in same class race anyway).  Hen Knight stables still firing blanks without being even a length of a winner lately so Chilbury Hill for me.
4/            Jackers is best fresh (he’s won FTO twice) and this is his second run of season with Hassadin a lb better off than when they met LTO with only neck between them so I think Hassadin has everything in his favour to reverse that form today.
5/            Not so much the penalty that I think will be against Milon Milan today but rather the size of field.  Sherwani Wolf will be fine and will have needed his first run of season LTO.
6/            Swine of a race to pick a winner and I have a feeling that something could spring a surprise hence the e/w on FF

How John Francome could eat a full Xmas dinner and keep his weight down for Boxing Day!
